Harry and Meghan's Cotswolds Great Tew Connection
Prince Harry and Meghan's connection with the Cotswolds goes back much further than many people realise.

The Harry and Meghan Cotswolds Great Tew connection goes back several years, long before their move to California became one of the most closely followed royal stories in the world. Before California became home, the couple spent considerable time in the Oxfordshire countryside.
And now the Cotswolds is back in the headlines.
Recent reporting has placed Meghan at Soho Farmhouse in North Oxfordshire, renewing speculation about the couple's relationship with an area they already know extremely well. Neither the Sussexes nor Soho House has confirmed reports that they are relocating there.
So what is their actual connection with the Cotswolds?

Harry and Meghan's former Cotswolds home
During the earlier years of their relationship and marriage, Harry and Meghan rented a country property in Oxfordshire.
The location offered something increasingly difficult for two globally recognised people to find: space, countryside and privacy.
Unfortunately, that privacy was ultimately compromised.
In 2019 Prince Harry accepted substantial damages and an apology from a news agency after aerial photographs were taken of the couple's Oxfordshire home.
His lawyers said the photographs included private living areas and compromised the property's security, contributing to the couple moving out.
It's also why we won't publish private addresses or directions to celebrity homes.
There is a much more interesting story to tell.

Why this part of Oxfordshire?
Great Tew and the surrounding countryside provide a particularly unusual combination. It's deeply rural. Yet London remains accessible. There are substantial country properties.
There are beautiful villages and excellent pubs.
And there's a degree of privacy that is difficult to replicate in the capital.
That's helped make the wider area attractive to numerous prominent residents.
The Soho Farmhouse connection
Soho Farmhouse is another important part of the story.
The country outpost of Soho House opened near Great Tew in 2015, bringing the group's private-club culture into 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside.
It became a favourite retreat for people from entertainment, media and creative industries.
Harry and Meghan have longstanding connections with the wider Soho House world, and recent reporting has again placed Meghan at the Farmhouse.
Great Tew and the celebrity Cotswolds
Harry and Meghan aren't an isolated example. The wider Great Tew area has been publicly associated with the Beckhams, Simon Cowell and other prominent names.
In 2025, Steve Jobs' daughter Eve married Olympic champion Harry Charles at Great Tew's St Michael and All Angels Church.
That's quite a collection of international connections for one small English village.

Why famous people keep coming back
The obvious explanation is privacy. But we think it's more than that.
The modern Cotswolds offers a combination of:
beautiful property
countryside
excellent food
country pubs
luxury hospitality
proximity to London, and
relative anonymity
You can be surrounded by some of Britain's most expensive property and internationally famous residents and still find yourself stuck behind a tractor on a narrow country lane.
That's part of the appeal.
Can visitors experience this part of the Cotswolds?
Absolutely.
But celebrity tourism doesn't need to mean searching for somebody's house.
Great Tew itself is worth visiting.
The church is beautiful.
Quince & Clover is a charming cottage (former post office) converted into a up-market delicatessen/cafe.
The Falkland Arms is one of the area's most distinctive country pubs.
The surrounding roads and countryside are quintessential North Oxfordshire.
Nearby are Chipping Norton and numerous smaller villages that many international visitors never see.
Those are the places we'd rather show you.
A note about privacy
There is inevitably enormous interest in where famous people live.
But there is a clear difference between discussing somebody's documented connection with an area and providing information that compromises their private life.
We'll happily explore Great Tew, public venues, celebrity-owned businesses, documented local stories and the reasons famous people are attracted to the Cotswolds.
We won't publish private addresses or information about children's schools.
The Cotswolds celebrity story is interesting enough without doing that.
And Harry and Meghan's history here illustrates exactly why that distinction matters.
