Book - Cotswolds Film & TV Tour
Step into the movies – explore Cotswolds filming locations from Downton Abbey to Harry Potter.
Service Description
The Cotswolds has long been one of the most sought-after filming locations in England, with its honey-coloured stone cottages, medieval churches, and rolling green hills providing the perfect backdrop for film and television. On our private Cotswolds Film & TV Tour, you’ll travel in style in a luxury SUV with local hosts who bring the stories to life, visiting villages and landmarks made famous on the big screen. Your adventure begins in Bampton, the charming village used as Downton Abbey’s “Downton village.” Here, you’ll see St Mary’s Church and the old library, which featured prominently throughout the series. Next, stop at Chipping Norton, home to Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop from Amazon Prime’s hit show Clarkson’s Farm. Continue to Gloucester Cathedral, where the Gothic cloisters doubled as Hogwarts corridors in the Harry Potter films. Fans of period drama will love Cheltenham Town Hall, featured in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth as Mr Darcy. In Snowshill, discover the picturesque village where the snow-covered Christmas scenes of Bridget Jones’s Diary were filmed. Your tour also includes Castle Combe, often called the prettiest village in England, which appeared in Stardust and Steven Spielberg’s War Horse. For fantasy fans, head to the ancient woodland of Puzzlewood in the nearby Forest of Dean, where scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens were filmed, alongside appearances in Doctor Who and The Huntsman. And no Cotswolds film trail would be complete without Blockley, the main village setting for BBC’s long-running series Father Brown. With plenty of time to explore each stop, you’ll have the flexibility to enjoy a relaxed pace, linger at your favourite film locations, and stop for a traditional pub lunch or farm shop café meal along the way. This is more than just a sightseeing trip — it’s an immersive journey into some of the world’s best-loved stories, set against the timeless beauty of the Cotswolds. Whether you’re a fan of period drama, fantasy, or British comedy, the Cotswolds Film & TV Tour is the perfect way to combine your love of cinema with the charm of the English countryside.
